  • Comprehensive Hearing Evaluations
For a comprehensive hearing test, you would sit in a sound proof booth with soft inserts in your ears. When you just barely detect a beep in your ear (it will sound very distant), you will press a button. This test is to see how loud the beep must be turned up before you can hear it. You will also repeat words back to the Audiologist at a very low whisper and at a comfortable level. This determines whether or not you may benefit from hearing aids.

  • 100% Digital & Programmable Hearing Aids
Digital hearing aids are like small computers. They have a memory to know when to amplify sounds and when the sounds are just background noise and shouldn't be amplified. Hearing aid technology changes annually. If you or someone you know has a hearing aid that is over five years old, it is time to upgrade to new, faster, and better technology! Call us TODAY! CALL 706-232-2HEAR!

  • Hearing Aid Evals, Fittings, Repairs
If you need new hearing aids, we will sit down with you and very carefully review your hearing loss with you so that you will completely understand which hearing aid(s) are best for you. If you have an older hearing aid that needs repair, call us so that we can make sure and have the appropriate programming cords and we will be happy to accomodate your hearing aid repair needs!

  • Advanced Dizziness & Balance Testing
Do you feel dizzy? Off balance? Is the room spinning? Do you feel like you are falling to one side? We offer ADVANCED testing for all types of dizziness.

  • Tinnitus Counseling
Ringing, roaring, swishing, water running, bells... do any of these sound familiar? Do you hear noises in one ear? Both ears? Constant? Intermittant? Whether it's constant or not, tinnitus is serious. There is a test called an Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) that we can do to rule out anything serious that may be causing your tinnitus. Other causes for tinnitus are: sinus problems, fluid in ears, ear infection, wax in your ears, fatigue, noise exposure, stress, hearing loss. Please do not hesitate! Call TODAY! 232-2432

  • Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
This is a test that can rule out tumors on the hearing nerve and many other disorders/diseases. It's an important test that requires little on your part. You simply have electrodes (like little bandaids) on your forehead and behind your ears. You have inserts in your ears. You are lying down, relaxed, listening to "clicking" noises in your ears. You do not have to respond in any way to this test. In fact, if you take a short nap, the test will go by a lot quicker (typical test is 20 minutes long).

  • Electronystamography (ENG)
This is a very important test to rule out many causes of vertigo (dizziness). You will wear electrodes (like little band-aids) on your forehead and around your eyes that will track your eye movements. Sometimes involuntary rapid eye movements (nystagmus) can be the cause of your dizziness. This test requires that you DO NOT EAT, DRINK CAFFIENE OR USE NICOTINE FOUR HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. You also must stop all medications (please talk to your primary care physician first) 48 hours prior to your appointment time. THE FOLLOWING MEDICATIONS ARE AN EXCEPTION AND YOU SHOULD CONTINUE TO TAKE THEM: Heart medications, Blood Pressure medications, Seizure medications. The ENG takes approximately 45 minutes to administer. If you are dizzy, please call us TODAY! 706-232-2432

  • Electrocochleography (ECochG)
Similar to the ABR, you will hear clicking sounds in your ears. This test is great for ruling out Meniere's Disease (a disorder that presents the following symptoms: dizziness, low frequency hearing loss - possibly fluctuating, and ringing (or roaring) in the ears. This test requires that you wear no makeup or lotion on your forehead and takes approximately 45 minutes to administer.

  • Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs)
This is a test for children and adults. OAEs can test your hearing without you having to respond. OAEs can also determine other useful information. For this test, you simply listen to very soft clicking sounds in your ears. You must be very quiet during the test due to its high sensitivity. This test takes approximately 15 minutes.

  • Dix Hallpike/ Epley
A test can be done to determine if you have a benign positional vertigo problem (BPPV). What does this mean? Well, inside your ears, you have a balance system with three little semi-circular canals. There is fluid in the canals and the canals are lined with little "crystals." If one of these little "crystals" gets loose and falls into the fluid, it can cause severe room-spinning vertigo. There is a test called the Dix Hallpike that can be done to determine if this is your problem. If you are positive for BPPv, we will do a Canalith Repositioning Procedure (aka Epley). This is like "therapy" for the "crystal" so that it is moved back into place. There are movement restrictions for 48 hours after this test (e.g., no looking up or down, etc.). If you lie in bed at night and become extremely dizzy when turning over in bed, you may be a victim of BPPV but WE CAN HELP. Call us today: 706-232-2432.

  • Tympanometry
This is a brief 5 minute test that measures how well your ear drum moves. This test can determine: wax in your ears, fluid in your middle ear, ear infection, retracted ear drum (like coming down a mountain and not being able to "pop" your ear), etc.
